从孟浩然的“荷风送香气,竹露滴清响”到周敦颐的,“予独爱莲之出淤泥而不染,濯清涟而不妖”,中国传统绘画和诗词中不乏描写荷花的笔墨。荷花不仅是夏日月色荷塘中的美景,更是承载着文人墨客赋予的高洁人格的象征意义。中国当代也不乏以荷花为题材的艺术家,但是以此为题的油画家却为数不多,艺术家张万凌便是其中一个具有代表性的例子。

九月展览“秀樾荷塘”将精选张万凌近年来的艺术作品,带领观者走近荷花的写意内涵。从落日下的荷花塘到聚焦荷花,莲藕,残茎的组合,张万凌的油画作品有着他不同寻常的哲性与诗性互通互动的观照。他的审美理想并不是乌托邦式的,而是直面现实人生和生存境况,以高于自然、高于真实的美学标格,把他所由衷记忆和梦索魂牵的生命内涵,生存境遇、自然精髓毫无例外地孕育成自己的艺术格调。张万凌既是表达对荷花所代表的诗画意境的张扬,也是在寻找、追求精神内涵极致表达的“妙境”。

Lotus is a very common object described in traditional Chinese paintings and poems. From Haoran Meng's "Fragrance sent by the lotus wind; the clear sound of the bamboo dew" to Dunyi Zhou's "The lotus leaves the silt without being stained; the clear wash with ripples without being evil”. It not only describes the beautiful scenery of the lotus pond under summer moonlight, but also carries the symbolic significance of noble personality endowed by the literati. Oil paintings are very rare even among large amounts of artists who portray the lotus. Wanling Zhang is a representative one. Many of his works have been focused on his familiar home town, thus you could easily feel his unique emotions, which are complicated and hard to describe in words.
The exhibition‘Lotus in Bloom’in September will feature Zhang's recent artworks of lotus in different scenarios,from the pond in the dawn to the combination of lotus flowers,roots and stems.Wanling Zhang's oil paintings are both poetic and philosophical.
His art aesthetic is not utopia,instead his inspiration comes from the reality of life and nature.By exploring the connection between his memory, personal experiences and nature, Zhang seeks to create a world emerged from his inner spirit.
